a friend remembered

AIESEC has always been close to my heart. Not only was it something that I thought I could slowly help change the world through but also because of the amazing friends I've made through it. One of these individuals, I'd like to remember today as he was tragically taken from us on October 8th.

The email I recieved read:

"my name is *** and i am a friend of ahmed al-arshi. ahmed was taking to hospital on october 6, 2005 after he fainted because of poison he eat in his food put by someone we don't know. police is looking on this case. i was at hospital to see ahmed last night and the doctors said he needed an operration because he has brain damage. today october 8, 2005 at 10:42am uae time, the doctor called me and said that ahmed sadly has died.

ahmed was a great friend and i know that you all are good friends and you liked ahmed like me and all my other friends. he talked about you and canada all the time and he had dreams to change the world to a better place and cleaner but god have other plans for him. we pray that he is in heaven. it is a very sad day for me and other friends but let us remember him for what good he give us and words that always still in our ears and his pretty smile that all you see from it is light.
let this be a lesson for us all to love life because ahmed loved life and he should be our hero and do what he use to do. clean this world.

god bless you all. if you want me to answer any qestions you have please email me and i will answer you. ahmed use to say do not cry do not be sad for your lost because one day we will be together again. it is just that they go to another world and you are just waiting your turn. it is a journey and our tickets are still pending. "

God bless his soul. Ahmed - we'll miss you, your crazy ways, your dreams and all the times you've made us laugh.

Rest in peace.

I'm very sorry to read this but thank you for posting Rosy. I met Ahmed twice during his Toronto showing of "Why should we care?" and was able to sit down and interview him as well between the Hip Hop night and movie night. I felt I got to get a glimpse into a great individual. Again thank you for posting this.

Stephen.

It is really hard to suddenly realize that some person you know and you care about, is no longer with us...

Sometimes, we dont understand why God takes nice people with him...

There is a story about this: There was a group of women reunited in their weekly Biblical study, and while they read the book of Malaquías found a versicle that says:

"and He will seat like smelter and silver purifier",

This verse intrigued them so much, what he could mean this affirmation with respect to the character and the nature of God?
One of them was offered to investigate the process of the purification of the silver. That week the lady called to a Goldsmith and made an appointment to see his work. She did not mention details to him about the true reason of her visit; she simply said that she had curiosity on the purification of silver.
While she observed the goldsmith to maintain a silver piece on the fire leaving to warm up intensely it, it explained that to refine the silver to him, had to be maintained in the middle of the Fire where the flames burn with more force, thus to remove the impurities.
Then she imagined to God maintaining to us in a place that Hot –
Then the versicle remembered once again "and He will seat like smelter and purifier of silver".
She asked to the silversmith if it was true that he had to remain seated the fire throughout the time in front of that the silver was refined.
The man responded-"Yes, I must be seated here maintaining the silver, also I must fixedly maintain my eyes in it during the time that this in the fire, if the silver was left a moment more of the necessary thing would be destroyed”.

The woman stayed for a moment in silence and soon she asked. - How do you know when silver is already completely refined?
The man smiled and responded to her, "Ah, very simple -- When I can see my image reflected in it."

Reading this posting brought me right back to the night we were all in Toronto - MC House - August 2004....listening to Ahmed speak about life and everything that he has been through. He was an incredible man with an incredible dream. His dream lives on and I know he is in a more happy place now.
